Mid-Semester Meal

Each October and March, ISSS holds Mid-Semester Meal, which is an event aimed at supporting first-year students who are adjusting to life in Atlanta. The event provides a dedicated space to discuss experiences, understand resources, and connect with student leaders. This event usually occurs on a Tuesday at 11:00. Lunch is provided.

Inclusive Leadership Development Program

 Each [fall or spring], OIE offers a two-day workshop focusing on inclusive leadership, intercultural communication, and self-efficacy. The workshop is led by Blue Phoenix Mentorship Services, which is a company of former international students who are trained facilitators. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks are provided.

Graduation Party

Each April, OIE celebrates international students as they transition from the end of their studies onto their careers. The event provides students with a chance to celebrate this important milestone with one another, ISSS, and campus partners. Photo opportunities usually include Buzz and Ramblin’ Reck. Appetizers and refreshments are provided.

Other Ways to Connect on Campus

Georgia Tech International Ambassadors (GTIA)

GTIA is a student organization with roughly 60 members from over 20 nations and five continents. Their goal is to celebrate our student body’s diversity and internationality by providing resources for international students and hosting multiple cultural festivities throughout the year. Events include International Student Meet and Greet in September, Night Market in November, and Culture Fest in March or April, which are co-sponsored by OIE. OIE’s International Student and Scholar Services team acts as their staff advisor. 

International Student Social

Each Tuesday during the fall and spring semester, the Center for Mental Health Care and Resources invites international students and spouses to attend a weekly social in the Graduate Living Center Activity Room. This event provides a space for students to take a break from academics and engage with one another through informal conversations. Refreshments are provided.

Intercultural Student Programs

Intercultural Student Programs provides an institutionalized approach for meeting the co-curricular needs of students by coordinating and planning educational opportunities that enhance interaction and learning across groups. The Office assists the campus in understanding, appreciating, and celebrating Tech's rich cultural diversity.

Student Organizations

Georgia Tech boasts nearly 600 Registered Student Organizations and 100s of campus programs, offices, and departments. The Engage platform allows students to navigate the many engagement opportunities available to Tech students. Find event happenings across the institute, browse through student organizations of interest, and contact organization leaders to get involved.

Campus Calendar

Georgia Tech’s campus calendar provides a broad overview of various events offered on campus. Students can filter events by topic including arts, career, sports, training, and more.

International Education Week (IEW)

International Education Week is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is part of the efforts to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences. Each November, the Office of International Education coordinates campus events to celebrate IEW.

Off-Campus Engagement Opportunities

Atlanta Ministry with International Students (AMIS)

Atlanta Ministry with International Students is an organization aimed at welcoming international students to Atlanta and connecting them with local friends in the community. They hold events throughout the semester and also offer the Amigo friendship program connecting students with a local volunteer for friendship and sharing of cultures. 

Global Atlanta

Interested in connecting to Atlanta’s global scene? GlobalAtlanta.com knits together Atlanta’s disparate international communities, revealing its ties with the world while helping local readers navigate the nuances of the global economy. Their website and weekly email newsletter share how local companies are engaging with the global economy and how foreign enterprises are fueling Atlanta’s rise as an international business center. Their international calendar offers a comprehensive source for the latest academic, business, and cultural events around the city.

RCE Greater Atlanta

Interested in sustainable development? RCE Greater Atlanta was acknowledged by the United Nations University on December 18, 2017 as a Regional Centre of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development. RCEs support multistakeholder implementation of the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals at the regional level through education and training. The designation makes Atlanta one of over 174 RCEs worldwide. RCE Greater Atlanta brings together universities and colleges from across the Greater Atlanta region with nonprofit, community, government, and business partners - and we are the only RCE in the U.S. with strong leadership and participation from HBCUs.
