International Student Fee Increasing Fall 2019

The University System of Georgia’s Board of Regents have approved Georgia Tech’s fiscal year 2020 budget proposed by President G.P. “Bud” Peterson and Institute leadership. The approved budget includes a number of tuition and fee changes that will go into effect starting fall semester 2019. Among them is the International Student Fee, which will increase to $100 USD per semester. The fee applies to degree-seeking undergraduate and graduate international students.

The International Student Fee covers costs associated with providing services, as well as the certification, processing, and compliance requirements, for international student support. The fee services available to international students and scholars at Georgia Tech, including special support for admissions, pre-arrival, pre-enrollment and orientation services, international teaching assistants, practical training via the Center for Career Discovery and Development (Career Center), and other administrative processing and compliance requirements.

The decision follows a detailed analysis of the costs associated with academic and administrative services, which requires an increase in order to maintain service excellence. The review included a review of fees assessed to international students at peer institutions. Even with this increase, Georgia Tech’s fees will be comparable or remain lower than our peers.
