Scholarships and Financial Assistance Resources for International Students

Thanks to generous alumni and friends of Georgia Tech, there are some scholarships available to international students. Please see the descriptions below for details about eligibility requirements and amounts. Please note that those who are on post-completion OPT but enrolled in courses are ineligible for funding from private donors.

Most funds prioritize students facing unforeseen need. Because of this, applications open at the start of the academic year (or when funds become available) and remain open on a rolling basis until recipients are identified and funds run out. Apply by submitting the "International Student Emergency Funding & Scholarships" e-form in istart.gatech.edu under Programs and Events. If you do not see funding that you are eligible for, we encourage you to submit an e-form request for our office to review.

Emergency Funds

Anne Robinson Clough International Student Fund - FUNDS AVAILABLE

The Anne Robinson Clough International Student Fund was established in recognition of Mrs. Anne Robinson Clough's longtime advocacy of the needs of the international student community. During her time working with international students, Mrs. Clough observed that international students often encounter unanticipated expenses that may not be an issue for domestic students. It was with this guiding principle that the fund was set up in support of Mrs. Clough's passion to help international students experiencing unexpected and non-recurring financial obstacles. Students must be enrolled full-time at Georgia Tech for at least two semesters (fall and spring) before being eligible. In addition, this one-time fund is set up to provide assistance for students who are inside the United States for the semester and who may not otherwise have resources as an international student studying away from their home country. Those who are on post-completion OPT but enrolled in courses are ineligible for funding.

Funds from the Anne Robinson Clough International Student Fund may be used for two different purposes:

  • Emergency funding for international students experiencing a situation that is critical in nature. The fund may not be used for emergency tuition or fee payments.
    • Eligibility:
      • Fully enrolled F-1 student visa holder
      • Enrolled for at least two semesters inside the US prior to requesting funding (fall and spring only)
      • Undergraduate or graduate level
      • Cannot be on post-completion OPT
      • Experiencing unforeseen financial need
      • Has not been awarded the fund previously
  • Participation in an academic or leadership conference that the international student may not otherwise be able to attend.
    • Eligibility:
      • Fully enrolled F-1 student visa holder
      • Enrolled for at least two semesters inside the US prior to requesting funding (fall and spring only)
      • Undergraduate or graduate level
      • Cannot be on post-completion OPT
      • Has not been awarded the fund previously

Students who apply for funds from the Anne Robinson Clough International Student Fund should not rely solely upon these funds to fund emergency costs or conference participation, but rather view the funds as supplementary to other funding sources. Most awards from Anne Robinson Clough International Student Fund range from $200-$400.
