Undergraduate Exchange Application

Please Note: Students may only apply as a GT Exchange Student after being nominated by their home institution. Your study abroad advisor will nominate you by completing an online nomination form. After your nomination is confirmed by Georgia Tech's Office of International Education, you will be sent a welcome email with the Online Non-Degree Application and additional instructions on completing the process.

Thank you for your interest in studying at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) as an undergraduate exchange student!  Please read the information below very carefully as there is a great deal of information to understand and many details to think about. Although your university has already selected you as a participant in this program, you must also apply and be admitted to Georgia Tech. You will be considered a “special non-degree student,” which is a category that means you will not be here to obtain a degree. 

You will find details on the documents necessary for admission listed below. Please be sure to submit everything that is required or your application may be delayed. There are several steps in the application process be sure to complete each step.

Application:

Exchange student applicants should submit a Georgia Tech Non-Degree Application by the application deadline. 

  • Fall semester: Apply by April 1
  • Spring semester: Apply by October 1  

Sending Documents Electronically to the Office of Undergraduate Admission:

Transcripts:

Your university will submit your transcripts directly to the Office of Undergraduate Admission to complete your GT application. Your university will receive instructions on how to do so. 

Official Transcripts: 1 copy in original language, 1 copy translated to English, if applicable.

TOEFL or IELTS Scores:

Request your scores be sent electronically from the testing agency [Institute Code for TOEFL score requests - 5248]

Note that a TOEFL/IELTS score is valid for 2 years

Language Requirement Exceptions:

  • Students from the following universities are exempt from the language requirement:
    • Australia: any university
    • Egypt: The American University in Cairo
    • Hong Kong: HKPU
    • Ireland: any university
    • New Zealand: VUW
    • Singapore: NUS, NTU, SMU
    • Turkey: Bogazici
    • UK: any university
    • UAE: American University in Dubai
