Costs Associated with the J Student Intern Program
It is important to understand what your expenses may be as a Student Intern at Georgia Tech. Below is a break down of the costs associated with living and working in Atlanta. These are only estimates, and are subject to change without notice.

OIE Student Intern Fee: $325
**Paid by GT Host Department or Student Intern - Payroll Deductions: student interns employed by GT may be subject to payroll deductions such as, retirement plans, health insurance, and a tobacco surcharge. Your offer letter will list the terms and conditions of your employment.
- Health Insurance:$150+ per month
- Short-term Housing: $600-1,500 per month; vary greatly based on personal preferences/needs
- Transportation: $90+ per month; will you buy a car or rely on limited public transportation?
- Food: $200+ per person; will you cook at home or eat out at restaurants?
- Miscellaneous expenses and personal travel: vary greatly based on personal preferences
