Finalizing the Application Process

After your admission you will receive an email with a link to an electronic form titled Exchange DS-2019 Information. Please follow the steps carefully, the information you provide will be used to issue your Certification of Eligibility form DS-2019. You will need this form to get your J-1 visa. You will be asked to provide the following documents:

  1. Transcripts 
  2. Financial Documents 
  3. Scan of the information page of your passport.  

Once you submit this form it will be reviewed by a member of the International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) team. You will receive a receipt email notifying you of current processing times. If everything is submitted correctly your DS-2019 will be issued and you will receive an email that will outline the next steps in getting your J-1 visa. 

Our office will mail the following documents  directly to your home university's international office: 

  1. Copy of Admission Letter 
  2. Invitation Letter from the OIE (this will have your program dates) 
  3. DS-2019  

This process is normally completed at the end of April/Early May.


For Undergraduate Students  

In order for your application to be considered the Office of Undergraduate Admissions will need to have: 

  1. Completed online application.
  2. Official Transcripts from all universities where you have received credit.  
  3. Valid English Language Proficiency Test Scores (usually TOEFL and IELTS) unless exempt. 

Once Admissions has all these documents you will receive an email notifying you that you have been admitted. You will also be able to download your Admission Letter. All letters from Admissions will say that you have been admitted for the Fall 2019 term, even if you are here for two semesters.  This is normal, and will not be an issue.  

For Graduate Students  

Graduate students must apply through their host department. Once the department accepts you, the Office of Graduate Admissions then takes over. Please refer to your host department for more specific guidelines for admission, as they vary from department to department. Once you are admitted, you will also receive an Admission Letter.
